Asare Bediako to be celebrated in Kumasi
The choral compositions of Sam Asare Bediako will fill the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi on Sunday, October 11 as the man is celebrated at an evening of music organised by the Salt and Light Ministries.
Asare Bediako is the composer of songs such as Meyi M’akyea, Aseda Nkoa, Sanku Ndwom, and Oman Ghana Beye Yie.
Though the pieces are fairly known across the country and beyond, the personality behind is hardly known. That is why the Salt and Light Ministries has decided to put the spotlight on him at the 4.00pm Kumasi event dubbed An Evening with Asare Bediako.
Performing groups at the programme include Harmonious Chorale, Celestial City Choir and Kumasi Methodist Diocesan Choir.
“The purpose of our evenings with Ghanaian composers in the classical and choral genre is to celebrate their works and to get the audience to appreciate the place of sacred music in our daily walk with the Lord,” a spokesperson for the Salt and Light Ministries said.
Composers featured so far at the Salt and Light Ministries sessions are for Prof Sekyi Baidoo, Kenn Kafui, James Varrick Armaah, Tsemafo Arthur, Newlove Annan, G J Koomson, J. Ato Scott- Bennin, George Mensah Essilfie and Osei Boateng.
