Akwesi J says ‘Nhyira Nka Awurade’
As a child, he had challenges coping with certain aspects of development but music was always close to his heart and Akwesi Adugyamfi Afrani Reynous, also known as Akwesi J, has now released his debut album titled Nhyira Nka Awurade.
The title track, rendered completely in Twi, is an upbeat reggae-spiced piece with horn embellishments that extols God for his abundant goodness.
Other tracks in the collection such as Meto Ndwom, Hwan Na Owo Nkwa, Odofo and Nkwa all explore highlife and emphasise the overwhelming love and mercy of God for His children.
Akwesi J believes he is the first autistic person in Ghana to record an album which will be launched at midday on Sunday, April 10, at the Bethany Church Auditorium, opposite Bank of Africa at Asylum Down, Adabraka in Accra.

Akwesi J comes from Kwaaman in the Ashanti Region and having grown up as a child with special needs, he is utterly convinced that everyone has talents that can be honed into abilities with the right support and encouragement.
According to the singer who is signed unto the Christa Fynn & Harriet Sraha Records label, he wants to start a charity project after his album launch, to raise funds to support people, especially children, with special needs.
“Childhood is always a critical phase of life. No matter the hindrances at that stage of life, the future is potentially bright so nobody should ever be written off because of initial problems,” Akwesi J said.
He urged the general public to come over to the album launch and witness what beautiful things the Lord can do in the lives of people with special needs.
