Vlisco fights piracy through innovation
The Managing Director of Vlisco Ghana, Mr. Kofi Boateng has indicated that one of the ways his outfit is using to win the fight against piracy in the textile sector is to continue to churn out unique designs and collections.
“The piracy situation is not getting better but we at Vlisco are making every effort to get ahead. We will not sit down and cry. The only way we can survive in this industry is by continuing churning out designs and collections and by the time the pirates try to copy them, we would have been ahead.”
Mr Boateng was speaking in an interview with the Graphic Business during the third annual Vlisco Women’s Month AWARD NIGHT held at the La Beach Hotel in Accra.
The influx of pirated wax prints into the country has had a heavy toll on the domestic manufacturing industry thus further weakening the growth of the sector.
