ADB presents prizes to Cocoa Akuafo Savings promo winners
The Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADB) has presented knapsack sprayers, farm work materials and other assorted prizes to winners of the ADB Cocoa Akuafo Abasobo Savings Promotion.
The prizes were presented to the winners at Kade in the Eastern Region, where the promotion was re-launched.
The Executive Head of Agriculture Finance at the ADB, Madam Sylvia Nyante, said the re-launch was as a result of the high interest showed in the promotion.
“The promotion was not a game of chance but a way to simply reward any graduate farmer of the GIZ-COCOBOD Business School who opens an account with ADB,” she explained.

Madam Nyante said the promotion was designed to help cocoa farmers save money for investments into their cocoa farms.
The savings would then give them access to loans and other services at ADB, she added.
Nature of promo
The promotion is a partnership between ADB and the German International Development Cooperation (GIZ) and was targeted at cocoa farmers in the Berekum, Dormaa, New Edubiase, Kade and Akim Oda areas in the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Eastern regions.
The affected farmers were part of the GIZ-COCOBOD Farmers Business School Programme.
The promotion ran between November 2014 and June 2015 and was meant to reward Cocoa Farmers under the GIZ-COCOBOD programme by encouraging them to improve their savings culture in return for prizes.
Farmers who opened accounts during the period of the promotion were rewarded instantly with assorted ADB souvenirs.
The 10 highest savers at the end of the promotion qualified to win knapsack sprayers. Consolation prizes were given to over Cocoa farmers who also participated in the promotion.
The Chairman of the Kade Cocoa Farmers Association, Mr Emmanuel Kofi Bonnie, expressed his gratitude to ADB for the promotion.
