Police win African Zone III volleyball
The Police male volleyball team won the seventh Africa Zone III volleyball club championship held in Yammossoukro, Cote d'Ivoire, last Saturday.
The team, led by Seidu Baba, beat Des Amis of Niger 3-1(25-16, 25-14,25-23,25-23) in the final to lift the trophy at stake.

In the female division, however, the Police women’s team failed to progress to the final, and the Ghana Immigration Service ladies team though performed creditably, lost 1-3 to their counterparts from Asec Mimosa in the finals.
The championship, which is an annual affair among the best volleyball clubs in the Africa Volleyball Zone III category, was highly competitive.

The leaders of the Police delegation, ASP Daniel Boateng and Joshua Zinsu told the Daily Graphic in Accra that volleyball in the country, particularly in the Greater Accra Region, was blossoming.
They said with little support from the state and corporate bodies, Ghana would be at the next world volleyball championship and Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Greater Accra president of the National Volleyball Association, George Tetteh, lauded the Police team and appealed to the state to support them in various ways to enable them to build a formidable team to represent the country in international tournaments.
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Volleyball Association will organise the Veterans trophy at the Prisons Sports Complex in Cantonments on September 10.
