Last week, Southampton's proposed £15 million move for Salisu to Fulham fell through, but Monaco has now rekindled their interest in the 24-year-old player, subject to a medical examination later this week.

Meanwhile, Southampton is bracing for potential new offers from Liverpool and West Ham for Romeo Lavia and James Ward-Prowse, respectively.

In addition to pursuing Salisu, Monaco has also been in discussions with Fulham regarding Tosin Adarabioyo, as they prepare for the potential departure of Axel Disasi, who has caught the attention of Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Manchester United.

Salisu, whose contract had one year remaining, was left out of Southampton's squad for their recent pre-season friendlies against AZ Alkmaar and Bournemouth. Towards the end of the season, he was not included in the team due to concerns about his commitment and application in recovering from injury.

Having joined Southampton in 2020 from Real Valladolid for £10.9 million, Salisu has made 80 appearances in all competitions during his three-season stint at St Mary's Stadium.
