Kwesi Appiah to arrive to a big welcome

Black Stars' returnee coach, James Kwesi Appiah, is set to make a triumphant entry into the country next week ahead of his much-anticipated unveiling by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The affable trainer rounded off his two-year romance with Sudanese Premier League side, Al Khartoum SC, last week to set the stage for a dream comeback which officially takes effect from May 1,  2017.

In a chat with the Graphic Sports last Monday, the soft-spoken coach disclosed that he would leave The Sudan for the UK today to spend time with his family before arriving in Ghana next week.

'I will leave Sudan on Wednesday to meet the family before going to Ghana next week,' he revealed.

It was an emotional scene to behold when supporters of Al Khartoum SC last Sunday organised a memorable farewell party for the Ghanaian coach who has propelled the club to the second position on the Premier League table.

Al Khartoum ARE currently joint leaders with Al Hilal on 22 points from 10 games.

''The send-off was organised by the club's supporters," Kwesi Appiah told this paper. According to him, the directors of the club were due to organise another send-off party for him yesterday.

"The directors of the club are organising another send-off party tomorrow (Tuesday)," he said.

Coach Appiah's parting gift to Al Khartoum were two straight victories in their last two league matches against Al Amal Atbara (2-1) on March 30 and Al Ahli Atbara (1-0) on April 3.

Kwesi Appiah got the nod to handle the Stars for the second time after outshining a tall list of 95 applicants dominated by expatriates, including Belgian Hugo Broos, who steered the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun to their fifth Africa Nations Cup triumph in Gabon last February.
