Kotoko IMC shows support for Narteh Ogum despite setbacks
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has pledged its unwavering support for head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, despite the team’s recent string of losses in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
The realities of the league are staring the Porcupine Warriors in the face after recording five losses in their last six games since the second round of the season began.
Kotoko started the second round with losses against Heart of Lions (0-1), Karela United (0-1), Accra Lions (2-3), Aduana Stars (1-2) and Nations FC (0-1).
There have been concerns raised towards the poor showing of the team, with many of the fans calling for the removal of Coach Ogum, especially as they prepare to play Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Saturday.
However, in a statement released last Saturday, the IMC said, “the coach Prosper Narteh Ogum would at post, contrary to speculations about his imminent dismissal.
The statement emphasised the acknowledgement of the various concerns raised by the teeming supporters of the club regarding their current situation and assured of its commitment to turnaround the dwindling fortunes of the club.
“It must be placed on record that management is equally not enthused with our results and deems it unacceptable. However, the IMC is committed to ensuring that there is a quick turnaround in our current fortunes,” the statement said.
“In our quest to achieve this, various steps have been taken, including an emergency meeting with the coaching staff and not the dismissal of the head coach.”
The IMC urged the fans and other stakeholders to remain calm and continue to throw their weight behind the club “in these turbulent times.”
