Ghana U-19 cricket team excels in Zambia
Two members of the National Under-19 cricket side who participated in the just-ended Africa Division 2 tournament in Lusaka, Zambia, won three trophies for their brilliant performance.
While the captain of the team, Clement Ateak, won a trophy for his outstanding bowling, Michael Aboagye won two trophies for what was described as all-round performances in two out of the five matches he played.
After defeating Rwanda and Mozambique in the final two matches, Ghana placed third behind Tanzania and Rwanda in the six-nation tournament, which included Swaziland, who Ghana defeated in their first game, and host team Zambia.
Speaking to Daily Graphic after their return, the captain Ateak, said the tournament had offered them adequate exposure and valuable experience.

“The team gained valuable experience from the tournament, having tested the status of six new members within the squad. We have learnt a lot from the experience of the participating teams in terms of planning, preparation and performance, and we feel that the next time we participate in a competition, we will bring home the trophy” he noted.
He however admitted that the squad was committed to learning the game to the highest level and would therefore follow the guidance of their coaches and management as a way of improving their performance.
That, he said, would enable them excel in the next competition that would be held in 2015.
