Kwadwo Asamoah donates $20,000 to fight COVID-19

Black Stars deputy skipper, Kwadwo Asamoah, yesterday presented a cheque for $20,000 to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to support the fight against COVID-19.

Having witnessed the severity of the pandemic in Italy where he plays his professional football with Serie A side, Inter Milan, Asamoah said he deemed it necessary to join hands with KATH and other spirited individuals and organisations to help manage the pandemic in Ghana.

Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Asamoah, father of the Ghanaian international, who presented the cheque to KATH at a ceremony, said his son also called on Ghanaians to continue to seek divine intervention for quick solution and to avert a calamity in the country since medical science alone had so far not been able to find a solution to the global health crisis.

KATH seeks more help

Receiving the donation, the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Dr Oheneba Danso, said the player's demonstration of love and concern needed to be applauded.

He said despite the numerous donations, KATH needed more financial resources to purchase more personal protective equipment to augment that from the government.
