Appiah’s men for farewell match
For the teeming Ghanaians who cannot afford the trip to Brazil, there would be nothing as soothing as seeing their Black Stars idols for the last time as they battle a select side in a friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium this afternoon.
Before emplaning to the Netherlands to continue with their preparation for the World Cup, Coach Kwasi Appiah will lead his charges, including players such as Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Muntari, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Andre Dede Ayew, new faces such as David Accam and Jeffrey Schlupp to officially bid farewell to Ghanaians in a match arranged to afford fans a feel of what should be expected at the world football gathering.
As usual, the Stars are favourites against the ‘Dream Team’ formed around home-based players such as Kwabena Adusei, Nuru Sulley, Augustine Okrah, Winful Cobbinah, Seidu Bancey and goalkeeper George Owu, among a host of stars selected by fans via text.
Although there is nothing at stake, it would be an opportunity for the Brazil-bound Stars to convince coach Cppiah they have what it takes to be in the final team for the Mundial.
