Accra Titans win India Republic Day knockout trophy

Accra Titans club defeated BGC 1 to win the giant trophy at stake in the India Republic Day Cricket knockout competition.
The tournament, which started in January as part of India’s Republic Day celebrations, attracted eight teams which competed for honours in straight knockout process.
Titans and BGC 1 beat all competitors to reach the grand finale which had earlier been rained off after seven overs.
BGC 1 took their innings with a disappointing score of 80 runs for 10 wickets in 18.2 overs thereby losing by 25 runs.
The tournament was played under the auspices of the India High Commission and was sponsored by Mr V. N. Akoliya Patel, CEO of Balaji Group of Companies.
The winners took home GH¢1,000 while the runners’ up earned GH¢500.
