Partey to get favourite No.5 jersey at Arsenal
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is thought to be eyeing midfield reinforcements this summer, and one of the names reportedly on his list is Partey.
But what shirt number would the midfielder be allocated if a £45million deal was to go through?
Partey's favoured option appears to be the no.5 as that is what he wears for Atletico as well as the Ghana national team. He also wore it during a spell with Real Mallorca.
The incumbent number five at Arsenal is centre-back Sokratis Papastothopoulos, but the Greece international has fallen out of favour, unused by Mikel Arteta since the restart despite rotating a three-man defence.
Sokratis is not believed to be part of the manager’s plans for the long-term and he had been linked with a move back to Germany, but The Telegraph (via the Express ) suggest the 32-year-old has no intention of leaving this summer.
With one year left on his deal, worth more than £90,000-a-week, he’s intent on sitting out the final 12 months even if he doesn’t feature.
