Leanier Addy re-elected GFA ExCo member

Madam Leanier Afiyea-Obo Addy was yesterday re-elected as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at an election held at the GFA Secretariat in Accra.

She won six votes as against two by Madam Habiba Attah Forson.

Moments after her re-election, Ms Addy expressed her gratitude to the electorate for reposing confidence in her and promised to remain committed to her responsibilities to enhance accelerated development of football at all levels in the country.

She said as a family, it was important for them to join hands in initiating programmes and policies that would impact positively on the development of football in Ghana.

“ We are one family, so I will also urge you to form a united front so that we can work together as a team  to achieve a common goal,” she noted.

For her part, Madam Habiba Attah said notwithstanding her defeat, she would not abandon her desire to promote women football in the country.

She said as a sports woman since infancy, she had always been at the forefront of either participating in the sports or promoting it in diverse ways.

“I will continue to work hard to promote women soccer in the country in spite of my defeat,” she assured.

Meanwhile, elections for representatives of Premier League and DOL clubs to serve on the GFA National Executive Committee will be held today.

The electoral process to fill the six Premier League slots will be conducted immediately after the Division One League elections scheduled for 9 a.m.
