Joe Debrah will be there
Former Asante Kotoko star, Joe Debrah, will be the toast of the Fabulous fans this weekend when he joins other old players of his generation in a special challenge football match against old stars of their traditional rivals, Hearts of Oak, in Kumasi on Sunday.
Debrah, obviously the best player in Kotoko in the mid-90s, together with his Hearts counterpart, Shamo Quaye (deceased), were household names who pulled the fans to all centres that they played and who stretched the rivalry between the two clubs beyond imagination with their characteristic styles.
Now domiciled in Dusseldorf in Germany, Debrah would have missed Sunday’s special game at the Baba Yara Stadium, but for the intervention by Kennedy Agyepong (Kenpong), a former director of the club.
Kenpong, who is also the CEO of Kenpong Group of Companies, is sponsoring the round trip of Joe Debrah, who arrives in the country today for the memorable game.

The former Kotoko director told the Daily Graphic yesterday about Debrah’s reminisces, especially the great personal pitch rivalries between him and Papa Shamo, and regretted that he would be missing Papa Shamo on this occasion.
Sunday’s match is being organised by old players of both Kotoko and Hearts to socialise with one another.
