“The people have spoken” - Gabby Otchere-Darko congratulates Mahama
The people have spoken. Democracy lives. Let Ghana be the ultimate winner.
These were the words of Gabby Otchere-Darko, a member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), as he congratulated former President John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the 2024 presidential election.
Mr Otchere-Darko, a critic of the former president hailed Mahama's win as "emphatic" and underscored the importance of respecting the will of the people.
In a post X on Sunday [Dec 8], Mr Otchere-Darko wrote, "Congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress for an emphatic victory. The people have spoken. Democracy lives. Let Ghana be the ultimate winner."
Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, also extended his congratulations to former president Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), acknowledging the party’s success in both the presidential and parliamentary races.
Dr Bawumia's message mirrored Otchere-Darko’s, emphasising the triumph of democracy.
"Congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress for an emphatic victory. The people have spoken. Democracy lives. Let Ghana be the ultimate winner," Dr Bawumia stated in his own post, highlighting the significance of the democratic process.
