Rawlings rejected salary as President - Nana Konadu reveals

Former President Jerry Rawlings never took salary as Head of State for the entire time that he led Ghana from 1992 to 2000, his wife has revealed.
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings made the revelation on ETV on Friday.
“He was not earning an income,” she told her host, Bismark Brown.
When pressed by the host for clarification and confirmation, Nana Konadu said: “No, he wasn’t taking it. I’m telling you. Maybe you should call him here and ask him.”

The former First Lady went on to add that Ex-President Rawlings began taking salary after he had left office.
“I think it was after he left office that he started taking.
“[As President] he wasn’t taking. He said the state was looking after him…he didn’t,” she said.
