Rachel Apoh donates to Aboso CHPS compound
The Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central constituency in the Central Region, Mrs Florence Rachel Apoh Opoku, has donated medical equipment and other items worth GH¢30,000 to the Gomoa Aboso CHPS compound.
The equipment is to enable the health facility to begin full operations after it was inaugurated by the former Central Regional Minister, Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe.
The non-availability of the medical equipment led to the closure of the facility and the workers assigned to the Gomoa Obuasi Health Centre.
The equipment provided with funding from the National Insurance Scheme(NHIS) for MPs, included hospital beds, delivery beds, stethoscope, weighing scales, thermometer, Sphygmomanometer and a first aid box.
Other items include four ceiling fans, a 42-inch flat screen TV and fridge-freezer.
Presenting the equipment and items during a durbar to climax the celebration of the annual Akwambo festival of the area, Mrs Apoh Opoku said due to the lack of medical equipment, the people of the town who needed medical care had to travel to Gomoa Obuasi or Agona Swedru Hospital to seek medical attention.
She stated that as the MP for the area, she was committed to ensuring that her constituents received the best of health care, hence the procurement of the medical items for the health facility to begin operations.
She noted that the CHPS compound was constructed to provide immediate medical services to the people before complicated cases were referred to nearby hospitals.
She assured the people of her resolve to buy more medical equipment to furnish all health facilities within the constituency so that it would encourage more health workers to accept posting to the district.
