NPP's Nana Agyemang Prempeh wins Ahafo Ano North seat after re-collation of results

Mr. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been declared winner of the Ahafo Ano North seat after the re-collation exercise.

He polled 20,353 votes while his sole contender, Kwasi Adusei of the NDC secured 20,232 votes.

Background

The Electoral Commission (EC) commenced the re-collation and declaration of results for nine disputed constituencies in compliance with a court order.  

The affected constituencies include Nsawam-Adoagyiri (Eastern Region), Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, and Obuasi East (Ashanti Region), Dome-Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central (Greater Accra Region), as well as Techiman South (Bono East Region).  

The Accra High Court directed the EC to complete the collation process and declare the winners in accordance with electoral laws. It also instructed the Inspector-General of Police to ensure adequate security at the collation centres.  

The re-collation exercise is ongoing at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the EC under tight police and military security.
