“We are going to unite. We have our men and the talent and 2016 is our time’’, he emphasised, adding ‘’we have come again to deliver the country and to save the country.
According to Prof. Delle, the CPP could not be treated as a party which was sick or dead.
He added that the party had the intellectuals, as well as men and women with substance who had great responsibility to redeem the party and the nation.
Prof. Delle was of the view that a rejuvenated CPP would contribute meaningfully to the development of the country’s democracy.
He stressed the need for the party to improve its membership in parliament, explaining that this needed hard work and dedication, saying ‘’CPP will never die, we will rise again.’’
Samia Yaba Nkrumah
Addressing the congress earlier, the immediate past national chairperson of the party, Madam Samia Yaba Nkrumah, appealed to members of the party to close their ranks and be united as one party.
She said it was time for the CPP to come to power to complete the unfinished business of the First President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
She noted that it was 50 years since the CPP government was overthrown and that in 2016 the party would come to power.
The two-day congress was on the theme; ‘’Upholding the integrity of Ghana.’’
‘’In 2016, l want to tell you that be not afraid, the spirit of our ancestors will guide us and lead us to victory’’, she said.
She said members of the party had been ridiculed, betrayed, exiled and imprisoned but the party was still firm.
Madam Samia Nkrumah said the party’s first loyalty was for the country, adding that the party was one and wanted to serve the nation.
She said the outgoing national executive was on good terms with the incoming executive and that she was ready to support the newly elected chairman.
