NDC had no role in Tuesday's chaos - Anthony Karbo
Former National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo has condemned the leadership of the party for the chaos that happened at the party’s headquarters on Tuesday.
According to him, the leadership must take full responsibility for their actions and not shift blames on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Karbo was responding to an allegation by the National Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko, that the NDC people who besieged the party’s headquarters during a press conference called by the party’s Steering Committee were members of the NDC.
Mr Afoko alleged on Citi FM that investigations by the party showed that the intruders who were wielding machetes were members of the NDC.
However, speaking on Joy FM Wednesday morning, Mr Karbo debunked the allegation, saying, “I have heard that the national chairman has alluded that what happened at the headquarters were people of the NDC. Please let me be very clear on that, the NDC has absolutely nothing to do with what happened at the headquarters. We have our problem, let’s deal with it and let’s stop drawing other people into this matter”.
“…how can the NDC invade our headquarters? It is not possible. Party supporters acted in a way which was not correct, let’s condemn it…we are not going to shift blames on the NDC and invite the NDC to come and make comments on this matter. This is an internal matter and we must be ashamed of ourselves. The national leadership must take full responsibility for what has happened at the party headquarters and they must resolve this matter asap [as soon as possible],” he added.
According to him, Tuesday’s incident needed to be condemned since it was creating the impression that the NPP is not ready for political power, adding that, “people will be justified if they make these comments about the party.”
