Manly-Spain tours registration centres in Tema, Accra
An aspirant for the Greater Accra regional chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, yesterday completed his tour of voters registration centres in the region.
The monitoring of the 10-day registration exercise, which ended yesterday across the country, took him to a number of registration centres in the Accra and Tema metropolises.
His key objective was to encourage many people in the region who had attained age 18 to eschew apathy and visit the registration centres to register.
Among the constituencies he toured were Tema East, Tema Central, Tema West, Ashiaman, Odododiodoo, Ablekuma South and Ablekuma West.

He was accompanied on the tour by Messrs Wisdom Dodoo, Solomon Arthur, Nii Ayitey Dodoo and Isaac Aye.
In a press briefing, Mr Manly-Spain appealed to the Electoral Commission to extend the duration of the exercise to enable many more people to register.
He described the exercise as a means to allow people to exercise their franchise in subsequent elections.
He also advised supporters of the NDC to bury their differences and unite to retain political power in 2016.
He asked the supporters to go round their various communities to disseminate the achievements of the government to the people.
“We must intensify our public education on the many good things the government is doing to improve on living standards,” he stated.
Mr Manly-Spain will be challenging the incumbent, Mr Joseph Ade Coker, for the position of regional chairman when the position is declared vacant at the party’s regional congress scheduled for October this year.
