Kemevor to contest NDC post

A board member of the National Communication Authority, Mr Mark-Oliver Kemevor, has declared his intention to contest for the post of Eastern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, his vision is to make the NDC more visible and viable in the region, which is the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“As a researcher, I want to bring my experience to bear on the context of politics through scientific research which will form the basis of finding and applying solutions to our poor performance in the region. With this, I am of the conviction that the NDC will not get less than 50 per cent of votes cast," he added.

Mr Kemevor, who is a doctor of philosophy (PhD) student at the South African University and currently a lecturer at the ICT Department of the Presbyterian University College, Abetifi,  was speaking to the Daily Graphic in Koforidua. He noted that "I represent a focal point for a unified NDC in the region".

He said in the past, there had been the perception of factionalism which was a drawback to the running of the party, adding that "as a young man of 32 years, I represent the bridge between the youth who form the majority of the voter population and the adult".

"I believe that in the past we had been running on auto pilot without any political strategy, but with me in the saddle we will work hard to bring new voters to our side," he said.

Mr Kemevor, who also doubles as the Communication Director of the NDC in the Eastern Region and Youth Organiser for the Abetifi Constituency, told the Daily Graphic that under his leadership, the party would come up with a political programme that would engage the attention of the youth, the generality of members of the party and some identifiable groups.

"Party executives from the branches to the region of the party are the engine of NDC and their welfare is the oil that greases the engine, so serious attention will be given to the party’s welfare issues," he concluded.
