Hackman Owusu Agyemang: NPP Elders’ Chair condemns Adwoa Safo’s public criticism, warns of disciplinary action
The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, has condemned former Dome-Kwabenya MP Adwoa Safo for her persistent public criticism of the party’s leadership, describing her actions as unacceptable and a blatant violation of party rules.
The former MP has repeatedly taken to the media, alleging a coordinated effort within the NPP to tarnish her reputation. Her remarks, deemed controversial by party officials, prompted a warning from the NPP General Secretary, cautioning members against discussing internal matters publicly.
However, Adwoa Safo defied the directive, continuing to grant media interviews. In response, the party referred her to its disciplinary committee, a move she insists will not silence her.
Speaking on Accra-based Joy FM on Friday, 21st March, Mr Owusu Agyemang stressed that the party would not tolerate such defiance.

“She has completely gone out of order, and the General Secretary has made it clear that she will be referred to the disciplinary committee,” he stated.
“She must cease all public statements regarding the party. She has broken all the rules, and this is unacceptable,” he added.
The NPP leadership has expressed deep disappointment in her conduct, particularly given her previous senior roles in both government and the party. Mr Owusu Agyemang warned that disciplinary measures would be enforced to uphold party discipline and unity.
“As a party, we will apply the necessary regulations and take appropriate steps. But for now, we are dismayed by her actions,” he stressed.
Calling for an immediate halt to her public statements, he cautioned, “She must stop all interviews, all utterances—everything. This is a human institution, and when one goes wrong, corrective measures must be taken.”
Despite the firm stance, Mr Owusu Agyemang expressed hope that Adwoa Safo would comply with the party’s directives.
“We will see how we move forward, and I hope she will adhere to what has been communicated,” he said.
The NPP has reiterated that internal discipline remains paramount, warning that any member who breaches party regulations will face the necessary consequences.
