Ejisu-Juaben re-elects PM

Members of the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly have re-elected Mr Nicholas Owusu-Sekyere as their  Presiding Member for the next two years.

During the first round of voting, all the three contestants failed to poll two-thirds of the votes to be declared a winner.

After the first round, Mr Owusu-Sekyere (the incumbent) had 37 votes representing 34.6 per cent; Mr Ofori Atta ( a teacher) obtained eight votes representing 5.3 per cent, while Mr Cletus Nimoh (also a teacher) got six votes  representing 3.9 per cent, with 14 rejected votes.

Mr Ofori Atta and Mr Nimoh were dropped during the second round of voting,  which was contested by Mr Owusu-Sekyere and in the end,  he polled 60 out of the 65 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Owusu-Sekyere commended the assembly members for re-electing him  as their presiding member and pledged to work hard to uplift the image of the assembly.

Madame Ama Pokuah Andoh, MP for Juaben Constituency, congratulated the elected PM and appealed to him to team up with all the members of the assembly to ensure the development of the area.

Mr Kwaku Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, commended the members of the house for the way and manner  in which they conducted themselves during the election.

The election was supervised by Mrs Alberta Osei-Bonsu, the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Electoral Officer.

Mr Owusu-Sekyere  was sworn in by Mr Alex Obeng Asante, a Circuit Court Judge.
