Brong Ahafo Minister urges calm at Seikwa
The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, has called on residents of Seikwa to remain calm, while the police go about their investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder of the omanhene of the area.
Nana Kwaku Dwuma Ankoanua was shot dead on Monday night, and the police have commenced investigations into the matter.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Accra on phone, Mr Aidoo said he received the news of the murder of the omanhene with shock.
“I want to plead with my people not to take the law into their hands but to co-operate with the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book,” he noted.
Mr Aidoo said currently security had been beefed up in the area, while investigations went on, and pleaded with any person(s) who had any slightest information to hint the police.
Meanwhile the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tain, Mr Kwasi Agyeman Gyan-Tutu, has also appealed for calm in the Seikwa Traditional Area which is in his constituency.
He reiterated that security was a shared responsibility, thus people who had any information should willingly liaise with the security agencies.
“I want to urge you all to be calm and have confidence in the police, since they are capable of handling the matter.”
Mr Gyan-Tutu called on all traditional areas in the area to resolve to solve chieftaincy matters amicably, instead of resorting to the use of violence to settle scores.
The MP conveyed his condolence to the bereaved family.
