Alpha Conde: Explore Guinea’s market
Visiting Guinean President, Prof. Alpha Conde, has invited Ghanaian manufacturing companies to explore his country's market.
He said a lot of opportunities awaited them, if they did business with Guinea.
Prof. Conde made the call when he visited Blue Skies Holdings Limited, a fruit and juice producing company, at Nsawam yesterday as part of his three-day state visit to Ghana.
Speaking through an interpreter, the Guinean leader commended the company for the good work it was doing and urged the management and staff to work even harder in the years ahead to advance their operations.
Company history
Established in 1997, Blue Skies is a joint venture between British (75 per cent) and Ghanaian ( 25 per cent) partners.
It produces freshly-cut fruits and freshly-squeezed juice for the local and foreign market.
Conde impressed
Prof. Conde was impressed with the hygienic production line and the impressive number of 1850 employees in the company.
General Manager of company
The General Manager ( products ) of the company , Madam Ruth Smith Adjei, who briefed the Guinean President, said they were currently operating with 70 farmers, who are supported in various ways to improve production.
She said they had established a-360 acre farm that fed the factory.
The company, she said, had an annual turnover of about £25 million.
Expansion
Madam Adjei said the company was preparing to enter the Asia market as it expanded its tentacles.
Currently, the company has factories in Ghana, Senegal, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil and the United Kingdom and supplies products to over 15 countries in Europe, Africa and South America.
Community support
The General Manager said they also provided development projects for the communities within its catchments area.
