Why robbers shot 29-year-old Graphic Designer - Police
The Police have suggested that Francis Thomas Anderson, a 29-year-old Graphic Designer with E-volution International, was killed by armed robbers Tuesday because he resisted them.
Francis was shot in the presence of his pregnant wife in the early hours of Tuesday after unidentified gunmen broke into his two bedroom apartment at Kwashieman in Accra.
Throwing light on how Francis came to be shot, the Public Relations Officer at the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Effia Tenge, told Accra-based Citi FM that: “Our preliminary investigations with this particular robbery indicate that there were some form of resistance from the deceased and that is how come he was shot in the process.”
ASP Tenge explained that one of the robbers bled profusely from injuries he sustained in the struggle with the deceased. This account is consistent with media reports to the effect that Francis stabbed one of the robbers with a knife.
The struggle is said to have ensued after the robbers had taken Francis' ipad and laptop and still wanted money, which he said he did not have.
ASP Tenge went on to urge members of the public not to resist in any way if they are attacked by armed robbers.
She said: “When they come to you, most of them are on drugs so they come there dazed and any attempts from you to resist them will end them taking your life.
“They [armed robbers] have nothing to lose anyway, you have your family to protect so in all times once you are alive, you would always have your properties back.”
