
Welder remanded for robbing judge
A 27-year-old welder who is suspected to have robbed a circuit court judge with his accomplices has been remanded in custody by the Tema Circuit Court.
The suspect, Peter Sam Atanga, and other gang members are said to have robbed the judge, Mr Seyram Tsatsu Yao Azumah, at his residence at Dawhenya on June 5, 2015.
Atanga was arrested at Dawhenya on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, but his two accomplices are still at large.
They are alleged to have broken into the judge’s house after scaling the fence wall.

Atanga, who has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and robbery, is to reappear before the court on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
Gunpoint robbery
The Tema Police Public Affairs Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ms Juliana Obeng, told the Daily Graphic that the judge and his wife were woken up by the robbers and ordered at gunpoint to surrender all valuables they had on them.
She said Atanga and his accomplices robbed Justice Azumah and his wife of four mobile phones, one laptop, four wristwatches and GH¢7,000.
She said the suspects later escaped, leaving behind a pistol.
Arrest
Ms Obeng said on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, policemen at Dawhenya arrested Atanga in connection with a case of unlawful possession of narcotics.
She said in the course of investigations, Mr Azumah identified Atanga as a member of the gang who had carried out the robbery at his residence.
