Virtuous Ladies support orphanage

The Virtuous Ladies Supporting in Prayer, a section of the nationwide network of women that supports people in authority with prayers and provides for the needy, has presented food items to the World of Friends Orphanage in Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The items, worth GH¢600, included toiletries, bags of rice, oil, sugar, provisions and bread. 

Since its establishment in 1992 by Dr Henne Ababio, the orphanage, which currently has more than 70 children, has catered for a number of orphans in the area.                                                                                                     

Presenting the items, the General Secretary of Virtuous Ladies Supporting in Prayer, Mrs Lydia Obeng, said members of the group were touched by the good work of the orphanage and decided to donate the items to mitigate some of its challenges.

Commitment of the group 

She indicated the commitment of the group to support the less privileged in society to enable them to live decently and expressed the hoped that the items would go a long way to help in the upkeep of the children.

She advised Ghanaians to continue to pray for the President and his ministers to enable them to rule the country well, adding that, “When Ghana becomes a better place, all of us will benefit, so let us all pray for the President and his ministers so that he can rule the country well,” she stated.

Receiving the items on behalf of the home, the caretaker, Mrs Dorothy Serwah Akoto, thanked the group for the donation and called on other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to emulate the group’s example.
