TechnipFMC Ghana donates PPE to frontline workers
TechnipFMC Ghana Limited, a joint venture company between Amaja Oilfield and TechnipFMC Holdings BV, has donated personal protective equipment (PPE), valued at about GH¢50,000 to Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region.
The items donated included medical gloves, face masks, disposable gowns and gallons of hand sanitisers.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Country Manager of TechnipFMC Ghana Limited, Mr. Shaun Watson, said the gesture was part of the corporate social responsibility of the company.
"As a corporate organisation in the oil and gas industry, supporting the communities in which we operate is not only our social responsibility but one of our core foundational beliefs as a company," he said.
Mr. Watson said the donation was done to support the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
"In as much as frontline workers are doing their jobs, they are also risking their lives and those of their families. Providing the hospital with PPE is our contribution to enable doctors and nurses work in a safer environment to save lives," he added.
Appreciation
The Director of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Joseph Tambil, who received the supplies thanked the management of TechnipFMC and assured them that the items would be used for its intended purpose.
He said most of the COVID-19 cases in the region are referred to the hospital and that the PPEs would go along way to help the health personal in battling it.
