Scrap dealer in trouble for stealing
The Amasaman Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Frank Yao Bedei, has granted a GH¢5,000 bail with one surety to a scrap dealer, Awudu Rafiu, for stealing.
Rafiu, facing three charges, conspiracy to commit stealing, unlawful entry and stealing - is to re-appear before court on June 25, 2014..
The Prosecutor, Sgt. F.A. Ansah, said the complainant, Joseph Sackey, was a clearing agent resident at Afoaman near Amasaman while Rafiu lived at the Kokomba market in Accra.
Sgt Ansah said Sackey was undertaking a building project at Afoaman and had fixed electrical cables in the building.

At about 9:30am on May 31, 2014, when Sackey visited the project site, he saw Rafiu and four others, now at large on the corridor of the building pulling and cutting the 2.5mm electrical cables from three of the sockets.
Sgt Ansah said Sackey then raised an alarm and the suspects fled into the bush. They were given a hot chase and Rafiu was arrested with a fertiliser sack and when searched, a quantity of 2.5mm electrical cables were found in the sack.
The prosecutor said Rafiu, in his caution statement, admitted the offence and explained that the gang was from the Kokomba market to look for scraps at Afoaman.
