Professionals train on etiquette
Corporate workers, professionals and other individuals have been educated on business etiquettes and corporate grooming.
The participants drawn from the formal and informal sectors of the economy were taken through topics on personal hygiene, how to choose a corporate dress, table setting and socially acceptable behaviour, rules for introducing people and dress codes and their interpretation.
The week-long seminar, organised by Kobadems Image Consults and Boutique in Accra, also dwelt on dress codes and acceptable conduct within corporate circles.
The Chief Executive Officer of Image Consults, Mrs Emma Addo-Owusu, explained that the seminar formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
Mrs Addo-Owusu noted that a person’s public image was critical in determining his or her success or otherwise in life.
She, therefore, said it was important that the public was educated on proper grooming and the rules governing socially acceptable behaviour.
“Etiquette must be treated with seriousness in our social and working environment. Corporate institutions are advised to make grooming and etiquette a priority and make it part of their in-house training programme. Because competition is now high, any entity that considers this would get an urge over its competitors,” she added.
A participant, Ms Grace Danso, a teacher, told The Mirror that the seminar exposed her to “behaviour that is not acceptable but which is generally overlooked” and also gave her an insight into how to dress well to suit particular occasions.
Another participant, Madam Edith Esi Amegee, a caterer, also said she was happy to have learnt the right way of table setting and its rules and etiquettes.
Mr Kweku Sarpong, a businessman, said his aim of attending the seminar had been achieved, since he has learnt other new things about the corporate world.
