Police yet to receive autopsy report on Catholic priest
The Suntreso police are still awaiting the autopsy report on the late Rev. Fr Thomas Schwiedessen, the German missionary who allegedly committed suicide by hanging at the Spiritual Renewal Centre at Apire, in Kumasi on Tuesday, September 29, 2015.
Although the police said they had no cause to suspect any foul play, they said the pathologist report would bring the case to a closure.
The District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr Vitus Napen, told the Daily Graphic that although the autopsy had been concluded, the police were yet to be given copies of the report.
Condolences
Meanwhile, the Rector of the Spiritan University College at Ejisu, Rev. Fr Anthony Anomah, has extended the college’s condolences to the Missionaries of Africa, for the loss of their confrere.
Even though the Missionaries of Africa Congregation is located close to the campus of the university, Rev. Fr Anomah said the late priest was not a staff member of the university; neither did he belong to the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritan).
In a statement, the rector said the priest “was a member of Missionaries of Africa (white fathers) and not a member of Society of African Missionaries (SMA) as stated in the story.”
Background
Rev. Fr Thomas Schwiedessen was found hanging on a tree at the Spiritual Renewal Centre at Apire, near Santasi in Kumasi, where he was on a treatment.
He was taken there when his confreres realised that he was behaving strangely.
