Forestry Commission develops scheme of service for staff
THE Forestry Commission (FC) has launched its scheme of service that defines the career paths and progression of staff of the commission.
The document also prescribes the type of training and career development staff of the FC require to move from one stage to the next level of the career ladder.
The development of the scheme followed a directive from the Public Services Commission (PSC) to all public institutions to prepare such a document as a guide for the development of human capital and career progression.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Nii Osah Mills, commended the management of the FC for complying with the PSC’s directive and obtaining an approved scheme for its staff.
He said the scheme of service would make it easier for each employee to determine his or her entry point into the FC and where he or she was likely to end up, depending on his or her qualifications, hard work, character and tenacity.
Nii Mills said the implementation of the scheme would stimulate excellent performance and productivity, as the staff would be motivated by a wide range of factors.
“I entreat all of you to respect this scheme of service and desist from engaging in any form of lawlessness and industrial actions,” he said.
FC determined
In a speech read on his behalf, the Chief Executive of the FC, Mr Afari Dartey, said most of the internal challenges confronting the institution would be eliminated once the scheme was fully implemented.
He gave an assurance that his outfit would effectively roll out the scheme in order to make the staff satisfied and motivated.
