Police arrest four men who claimed to be armed robbers in viral videos
The Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals captured in a widely circulated video making violent threats.
In a statement released today, the police confirmed the apprehension of the suspects, identified as Isaac Ampong (alias Bullet), Emmanuel Buah (alias Network), Festus Agyei, and Asaana Isaac.
The disturbing video, which circulated widely online, allegedly showed the group threatening to harm people they encounter at night.
The Ghana Police Service launched a swift investigation upon becoming aware of the video, leading to the arrest of the suspects on July 12, 2024.
"We want to assure the public that all the suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations," the statement read. "They will be taken through the due process of the law."
The Police statement further urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or call the emergency hotline.
Videos
In two separate, undated videos widely circulated on social media, an individual identifying himself as Kwame Tunechi uses profane language while speaking into what appears to be his phone's selfie camera.
With two others in the background sitting on a motorbike, he boasts of committing crimes and threatens to rob an approaching vehicle.
They are joined by a fourth individual in the second video where he says they go out and 'hunt' when people are sleeping.
Apology
In another video published on Tiktok, the quartet are seen apologising and recanting their comments which they say were a result of them being inebriated after a birthday party.
They said a day after posting the video, they decided to leave it up because they thought it will trend and get follows, comments as well as likes on social media.
