Peace will soon be restored at Tafo - Rev Emmanuel Asante

The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev Professor Emmanuel Asante, has revealed that process to restore peace between the Muslim youth and traditional authorities of Tafo was underway following clashes over land which led to one death on Tuesday.

Prof. Asante said there had been discussions with the Muslim youth and that the council would meet with the traditional authorities to find lasting solutions to the unrest in the community.

According to him, maintaining peace was a gradual process which takes times, but he gave the assurance that peace would be restored the Peace Council had met the traditional authorities of the land.  

He said the security services were also working earnestly to ensure peace and stability in the community.

Prof. Asante said the meeting with the Muslim youth had been successful and added that the people in Tafo did not want the clashes to extend to other places in the Ashanti Region

He promised that peace would prevail after meeting with the authorities of the land.

Meanwhile, life in Tafo has bounced back to normal, but most of the schools in the community remain closed.
