One arrested in staged YFM Presenter’s abduction drama (audio)
One of the accomplices, said to have helped a YFM presenter stage her own abduction and rape, has been arrested by the police.
He has been named as 18-year-old, Nelson Williams a.k.a. Iddrisu, a painter and a resident of Abossey Okai in Accra.
The police said he was arrested at about 10pm; a day after the nude pictures of the woman at the center of the incident went viral on April 13, 2015.
At a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Effia Tenge, said: “One suspect has been arrested and he has revealed that there was no sexual assault and that the incident happened in Accra in a hotel room and not Takoradi as was initially thought.”
“The Police is also pursuing two other people suspected to be involved in the case.”
She said in all there were three guys and the lady at the centre involved in the whole matter and that findings as of now portray that of a two-sided story.
However, she said the police were still investigating to get to the bottom of the matter to unravel the truth.
She said the police would want to be careful as law enforcement agency and that all suspects implicated in the conspiracy which tends to beat the imagination of the average human mind would be arraigned before court.
ASP Tenge said Williams during interrogations denied sexually assaulting the lady who is commonly known as Adaezie Onyinyechie Ayoka alias Ada. Her father has however revealed that her real name is Naana Apea Antwi.
Williams reportedly told the police everything that happened on the said date was done with the consent of the lady.
Williams, the police said told them he was asked by Ada, who posed for the pictures to be taken and sent to her boyfriend whom, she claimed had jilted her for another girl.
The pictures were to convince the boyfriend that his new girlfriend was behind the abduction and torture.
According to the police, Williams claimed to be a friend of Ada and that he did not receive any monetary reward for his role in the whole incident.
ASP Tenge said the lady was yet to tell the police her side of the story and that she was being examined both physically and mentally at the Police Hospital in Accra.
