
New Tufohene of Akwamufie installed
A new Tufohene of Osomanyawa, Nana Bekai Ahenfie of Akwamufie, has been installed at Akwamufie in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
Known in private life as Prince Godfried Eugene Gyechie, the new Tufohene is a graduate of the Westminster University where he studied Law. He is an ex-politician and works with Barratt Developments PLC, one of the largest residential property development companies in the United Kingdom.
Nana Gyamera-Gyechie I is also a counselor in the United Kingdom.
He was the first black and Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrat to be elected in the Borough of Lewisham and also distinguished himself by being elected the first black and Ethnic Minority Councilor to represent the black Heath Ward in Lewisham.

Traditionally, the Tufohene is the adviser to the chief and his elders and has the other responsibility of settling disputes among the people.
Swearing the oath of allegiance to the abusuapanin in a ceremony at the Bekai Ahenfie last Thursday, Nana Gyamera-Gyechie I, pledged to serve the elders and the people in good faith and in truth to enhance the development, peace and unity in the area.
