Methodist Church honours Bishop Ametefe

Picture: SAMUEL TEI ADANO.A send-off church service has been held in honour of Bishop Winfred Habel Yao Ametefe, Methodist Diocesan Bishop of Tema, who has retired after 33 years of dedicated service.

In a citation, the diocese described Bishop Ametefe as an approachable person, who played the fatherly role to all ministers and the lay in their fold.

The church said as a bishop, his passion was to evangelise to people. He also reached out to the poor and needy, especially those in the remotest part of the Tema Diocese.

“You organised a series of meetings, revivals, serminars, declaration of fast camp meetings, crusades in the whole diocese, to improve the spiritual lives of members of the church to enable them live quality and committed lifestyles depictong victorious Chritaians.” the citation said.

Among his achievements, the citation said Bishop Ametefe strenghened the twinning programme of the diocese by encouraging the metropolitan circuits to pay the salaries of ministers in less endowed circuits of the diocese.

Bishop Ametefe started his pastoral duties in 1984, when he was commissioned at the Methodist Conference in Winneba and served as Chaplain at the then Advanced Teacher Training College (ATTC)

He was ordained in 1984 and in the course of time, superintended over the Akosombo and Ho circuits after serving as minister in charge of Methodist societies in Accra and Kumasi.
