Maj.General Modey commends Customs personnel for outstanding performance

The Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Major-General Carl Modey, has commended staff of the division for their vigilance and professionalism that resulted in the detection and seizure of a consignment of cocaine at the Takoradi Port on Friday,  April 13, 2013.

In a letter of commendation to the Sector Commander of the Takoradi Collection, Maj.Gen Modey said, “Management is encouraged that true dedication and commitment to duty was exhibited by some staff in this exercise. Do convey management’s special commendation to all staff whose selfless actions paid off so well. Similar commendations also go to the Sector Commanders at Kotoka

International Airport (KIA) and Tamale Collections for their recent arrests in respect of malpractices and smuggling respectively”.

The letter directs all Sector Commanders to intensify actions to prevent the importation of all banned items particularly illicit drugs, weapons, fake drugs, agro-chemicals and textiles, expired goods etc.

“We must continue to protect our society from these dangerous items,” Maj.Gen Modey urged the service personnel in the letter.

He reminded Sector Commanders to clamp down on individuals who continued to use fake documents as already directed.

“Finally, we should all ensure that all staff strictly abide by the code of conduct and ethics, prevent any forms of revenue loss/leakage and above all do nothing that will tarnish the image of the organisation. Keep the flag flying even higher,” the letter admonished officers and men of the Customs Division of the GRA.
