Lordina Foundation, queenmother fete aged in Osudoku
The Lordina Foundation, in collaboration with the Paramount Queenmother of the Osudoku Traditional Area, Nana Amponsah Dokua III, has organised a New Year party for the aged in the Osudoku community and its environs.
Over 120 elderly women, drawn from Osuwem, Asutsuare, Akuse and Kagayan, were treated to both traditional and gospel music and provided with assorted food and drinks.
In addition, they were each presented with rice and oil.
About 200 children were also served with cooked food, pastries and drinks.

In an address, Nana Dokua called on all to treat the aged with respect as they had worked very hard in their productive years to raise their children and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
Support aged
The queenmother noted that instead of being supported and respected, elderly women were neglected by their own families and the communities they lived in.
She said it was a blessing to show compassion to the aged and the less privileged in society and called on members of the public to treat the aged well.
Nana Dokua expressed her profound gratitude to the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, for her great support to the community.
She said the First Lady donated bags of rice, cooking oil, assorted drinks and other items for the successful organisation of the party.
Passionate appeal
She made a passionate appeal to philanthropists, NGOs and institutions to assist the community to provide quality health care for its people.
The acting President of the traditional council, Nene Tetteh Otibo IV, and the Development Chief of the area, Nene Teye Titriku I, were the special guests for the occasion.
Nene Otibo acknowledged the enormous contributions of women to society and lauded Nana Dokua for taking the initiative to solicit support for the aged and the girl-child in Osudoku.
Appreciation
During the event, deserving nurses in the Osuwem CHIPS Compound were presented with gifts.
Miss Homofest 2015, Ms Doris Larweh, and her co-contestant (both natives of Osudoku) were also presented with gifts from Nana Dokua.
