Ghana ready to host best ever African Oil Week Conference in 2025
Ghana will use its experience and expertise in hosting global events to ensure that the 2025 African Oil Week (AOW) conference is the best held in its 30-year history.
Also, the government is fully committed to ensuring that the AOW maintains its Pan-African focus by inviting governments, national oil companies, regulators from across the continent and private sector players to share their experiences and take advantage of the opportunities on the continent.
The Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy, Herbert Krapa, gave the assurance moments after Ghana was named as the host of the global conference in Cape Town last Thursday.
He extended an invitation to all stakeholders in the oil industry to attend the conference in Ghana, assuring them of an impactful event.
“Ghana is proud to be hosting Africa Oil Week 2025 and will bring our experience and expertise to bear on organising the best conference ever.
“We welcome you to Ghana and we encourage you to be part of this exciting new chapter. You have the full commitment of the government to ensure that Africa Oil Week in Accra will be everything that you have known it for in Cape Town and more,” Mr Krapa stated.
The 30-year-old AOW conference, which attracts over 1,600 delegates from over 70 countries, is a networking and exhibition event in the oil and gas ecosystem.
It brings together governments, regulators, global operators, power producers, investors and service providers who work to develop policy, secure investments and nurture partnerships that will promote sustainable development and energy transformation across the continent and beyond.
Announcement
The announcement of Ghana hosting the 2025 AOW was made at the week-long AOW Conference, Networking and Exhibition in Cape Town in South Africa.
Making the announcement, the Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Association (APPO), Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim, said they had the commitment of all the major players, including African Energy Chamber, organisers of the Energy Week and Sankofa, the new owners of AOW and APPO, to work together for the good of the continent’s energy industry.
“To start with, African Oil Week is moving base from Cape Town to Accra from 2025,” he said, adding that more details of the selections of Ghana would be announced on Thursday from management of Sankofa Events.
