
Eni Ghana,OCTP partners, support communities
The operator of the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP), Eni Ghana and its OCTP partners have handed over completed social infrastructure projects to communities in its operational areas.
The partners also trained 18 young members of the communities on various skills in welding and provided them with international certification and starter kits.
The beneficiary communities are Sanzule, Krisan, Bakanta, Ngalekpole, Ngalekyi and Baku, all in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The partners, Eni Ghana, Vitol Upstream Ghana (Vitol) and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) handed over the social projects in the areas of health, sanitation, education and economic diversification to local authorities and communities within OCTP’s area of influence in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

The projects included the renovation of the Sanzule/Krisan School Canteen, which would provide meals to over 300 students to support their academic performance and well-being.
The commitment
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Eni Ghana, Maurizio Pinna, on behalf of the partners emphasised the importance of the projects to the people in the beneficiary communities which they considered very important stakeholders.
The projects, he said highlighted Eni and its OCTP partners’ broader commitment to enhancing livelihoods, focusing on areas that provided not only tangible and immediate benefits but also laid the foundation for long-term sustainable development that would positively impact the communities and foster inclusive economic growth.
Four fishing sheds were also constructed for the Bakanta, Ngalekpole, Ngalekyi, and Baku communities to benefit more than 7,000 people made up of fishermen, fish mongers, processors, and community members by offering secure spaces for fish processing and storage.
To ensure a clean environment, five modern household latrines using bio-digester technology to improve sanitation, promote environmental sustainability and enhance public health were handed over to the communities.
The Ellembelle District Director of Education, Winfred K. Adodoadzi, commended the company for the support and said the facility would help provide the perfect ambience for the school and called for more support.
The Chief of Bakanta, Nana Aka Nwanza lll and the Chief of Awiaso, Nana Akpanyi Amo ll, who represented the Chief of Krisan, expressed their appreciation for the investment ENI and the OCTP partners were making in the communities.
The beneficiaries of the Argon Welding training said it provided useful insight into the world of welding and fabrication and new technologies.
One of the beneficiaries, Mabel Morkeh, said one of the most important aspects of the training was that “Aside from the training, we were given internationally recognised certificates which do not come easily.”
The company has an equity production of about 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent/day.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from Eni, Vitol, GNPC, the Petroleum Commission and Chiefs and traditional leaders from the beneficiary communities.
