Dambai host Ahmadiyya Muslims mission conference

Muslims and Christians have been called to forge closer ties for peace and tranquillity to prevail before and after the December 2024 general election.

They have also been called upon to abide by the tenets of their religious beliefs and values which signify peace and coexistence.

The Oti Regional Minister, Daniel Machator, made the call during a two-day regional conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Mission at Dambai in the Oti Region on Tuesday.

The conference, jointly organised by the Greater Accra and Volta zones with the traditional authorities as partners, was aimed at expanding evangelism to win souls. It was on the theme “Khalifat: The continuity of prophet hood and the soul of Islam”.

Mr Machator commended the Ahmadiyya Muslims Mission for the choice of the region and municipality for the maiden conference, which would go a long way to strengthen the faith and attitude of the people.

He said the two religions worshipped the same God through the Prophet Mohammed and Jesus Christ, and had over the years complemented the efforts of the government to provide schools, hospitals and various social amenities.

He, therefore, advised the people to go about their campaigns with caution and not to attack the integrity of their opponents since such attitude had no basis in democracy.

The Zonal Missionary Ahmadiyya of Tema, Maulvi Abass bin Suleman, said the time had come to spread the good message of the Islamic religion to ensure peace which was a necessary condition for the sustenance of democratic governance and economic development.

Maulvi bin Suleman was sure that the conference would be strengthened in the region, which now had five circuits, namely Agbozume, Worawora, Ho, Dambai and Kete- Krachi.

The Chief of Dambai, Nana Kwaku Beyennor II, gave the assurance that they were ready to provide the mission with land to make the religion more visible in the area.

He was happy for their message which condemned violence and welcomed peace which was a needed ingredient for development.
