
Ada Paramount Chief launches foundation to drive community development
A non-profit organisation, the Jetse Developmental Foundation, has been officially launched to lead development initiatives in communities within the Ada traditional area and beyond.
The Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area, Nene Jetse Kabu Abram Akuaku III, who is also the President of the Ada Traditional Council, initiated the foundation to foster fair distribution development in the traditional area.
The inauguration at Big Ada in the Ada East District in the Greater Accra Region brought together traditional leaders, government officials, community members and development partners to mark the beginning of a foundation committed to social and economic transformation.
The advisory board is chaired by a finance and accounting professional, Osmond Kwashie and has the Executive Director, Christiana Sikayo Kabukuor Osifodoe, also acting as the Board Secretary, with a petroleum engineer, Daniel Tetteh Akuaku, a Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, Prof. Clara Korkor Fayorsey Mante, a Professor of Physiology, Prof. Tsiri Agbenyega and a legal practitioner, John F. K. O. Appiah as members. Jetse Akuaku III is the Life Patron of the foundation.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of the foundation, Christiana Sikayo Osifodoe, outlined the foundation’s vision, mission, core values goals and activities which included improving healthcare, sanitation and security.
It would also promote quality education, work to preserve and advance Ada’s tourism and cultural heritage, empower young people through entrepreneurship and mentorship, foster effective leadership skills and recognise outstanding individuals, businesses and groups with excellence awards.
“Our goal is to bridge the development gap by creating opportunities for young people,” she said.
Ms Osifodoe stated that supporting education and improving healthcare facilities in communities was key to the development of the Ada area and expressed the belief that by working together, a better future could be built for all.
The executive director of the foundation called on corporate bodies, individuals and community groups to support the foundation to achieve its goals.
Take ownership
The launch featured cultural performances and testimonials from individuals who had previously benefited from the foundation’s philanthropic efforts.
The Divisional Chief of Lomobiawe, Nene Lomo IV, who was the chairperson of the event, commended the effort and encouraged the community to take ownership of the foundation to foster development projects in the area.
“We need more of such visionary projects to transform the lives of our people,” he stated.
According to him, the foundation’s focus on education and skills development aligned with the traditional council’s efforts to create a self-reliant society for the people.
