Farmer sentenced 144 months for defilement
The presiding judge, Mr Asmah Akwasi Asiedu passing his judgment remarked that defilement was very rampant in the area and the severe punishment should serve as deterent to the convict and others would want to emulate his bad example in future.
“It is the duty of the court, the police, and all and sundry to help bring down this offence if we will not be able to stamp it out completely,” Mr Asiedu advised.
The facts of the case as presented by Chief Inspector Monica Anku of DOVVSU Akuse were that the victim is a 12-year-old pupil of Manya Krobo Christian Academy staying at Nuaso with the parents.

The victim used to hawk ice cream products in the town after school and none school days. The convict used to buy the ice cream from her.
The prosecutor said on April 13, 2013 at about 2.30 pm, the victim as usual was selling her product and met convict in his house and he bought some ice cream.
The convict entered his room after paying her and requested for the same quantity in his room.
As soon as the victim entered the room, the convict quickly banged the door on her and persuaded the victim to allow him have sex with her for a handsome reward.
The prosecutor continued that initially the victim refused but at a point she gave in knowing that she was going to receive what she had never seen before.
After the act, the convict gave the victim GH¢5.00. The following day, the victim’s brother heard of the incident in town and informed their parents.
She was sent to Nuaso police station and lodged complaint. She was given medical form and was treated and the medical from duly signed and returned.
The case was consequently referred to DOVVSU. Two days later, the convict was arrested and changed after further investigation.
