Don’t insult sense of judgement of Nkrumah’s family - Elder
The Nvavile Abusua (Agona Family), Nyaniba House Nkroful in the Western Region has condemned Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa and Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr for making unsavory remarks and insulting the integrity and sense of judgement of the family over the parentage of Dr Onsy Nkrumah.
Reacting to statements made by Prof. Akosa and Mr Pratt Jnr which sought to question the status and claims that Onsy is the biological son of President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the family expressed reservation about the attitude of the two persons.
Professor Akosa’s claim
Professor Akosa had in an article in the Monady, August 24 edition of the Daily Graphic under the caption’’Who is Dr Onsy Nathan Kwame Nkrumah?’’ queried the relationship of Onsy with President Nkrumah.
Professor Akosa went on to say that the bottom line is that this matter must be proven beyond any reasonable doubt by DNA technology and Ghanaians must be interested in the outcome.
He argued that Ghanaian citizenship cannot be obtained on hearsay, even if the Sinare’s behave as if they were present during the consummation.
However, Mrs Souad Mohammed El Rouby Sinare, an 82- year-old widow of the late major Alhaji Saleh Said Sinare (retd), who was the first Chief Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces had on July 30 Thursday, 2015 asserted during a press conference that Dr Onsy is a true biological son of the late President Nkrumah.
Rebuttal by family
A member of the extended family, Nana Bulumiatwum Kwasi, who spoke to the Daily Graphic on behalf of the Head of the family, Nana Adwobia Kpanyinli in Accra last Wednesday, said ‘’as much as we respect the membership of the Nkrumahist front and their views on the political legacy of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, we will not tolerate any encroachment on our private family issues by people who are not members of the family.’’
Nana Bulumiatwum Kwasi, therefore, cautioned Prof. Akosa and Mr Pratt Jnr to do good to their professional and personal reputation by staying away from the private affairs of the family.
Nana Bulumiatwum said the family was trying hard to unite the nucleus and extended families of Osagyefo Dr Nkrumah and did not need self-proclaimed wise men who thought they knew more than members of the family to dictate ‘’our sense of direction’’.
He said the family had accepted “our son Onsy Nkrumah into the family and we are grateful to all who are helping us to do that, especially the good old lady and friend of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Mrs Souad Mohammed Rouby Sinare, for telling the whole world what she knows about Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Onsy Nkrumah”.
