Harry Yamson: New Acting DACF Administrator confident in oversight role

The newly appointed Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), Michael Harry Yamson, has expressed confidence in his ability to manage the fund efficiently, citing his extensive financial experience as a key asset.

Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Mr. Yamson reassured the House that his background in managing large budgets would enable him to steer the DACF effectively.

"I have tremendous experience. I've managed budgets three times the size of this fund and done so successfully. I have a wonderful team at the DACF, the ministry, and my brother, the Minister assures me of his support. I am extremely confident that in addition to all of this, with guidance from the House, there is no way I will fail at the DACF," he stated.

His comments come at a time when the efficient disbursement and management of the DACF remain critical to local governance and development.

When questioned about his approach to improving the fund’s efficiency, Mr. Yamson emphasized the importance of fresh perspectives in leadership, pointing out that past administrators have also come from diverse professional backgrounds.

"I believe the first two occupants of this office were also not local government experts. My immediate predecessor, to a large degree, is, but I would say that fresh blood is good for every organization," he noted.
