Christian Praise International mourns Annor-Yeboah

There was solemnity at the headquarters branch of the Christian Praise International Centre (CPIC) at Pig Farm in Accra on Sunday, as the grieving church held its first major service since the death of its founder and presiding bishop.

Bishop Dr Augustine Annor-Yeboah died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on June 26, plunging the CPIC congregation into a state of mourning.

Four days after the demise of Bishop Dr Annor-Yeboah, many members of the church were still in a state of shock and disbelief, and as a minute’s silence was observed in his memory during the service, some of the members could not hold back their tears.

Encouragement

But when the Chairman of the CPIC Interim Governing Council, Apostle Stephen Owusu Jackson, mounted the pulpit, he encouraged the congregation to remain calm.

“I have come to tell the children of God here that our father is resting in heaven and when the trumpet sounds, he will be the first to rise,” he proclaimed, as the worshippers, mostly clad in black attire, responded with a loud applause.

Apostle Jackson urged the congregation to uphold the legacy of Bishop Dr Annor-Yeboah by living according to his teachings and maintaining their faith in God.

Precious death

Preaching on the topic: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints”, in reference to Ps 116:15, Apostle Jackson said although death was inevitable, the death of the righteous man was precious in the sight of God.

He said Bishop Annor-Yeboah was a righteous man who served God all his life so his death was precious in the sight of God.
